Flash Intros Are Dead

By John Paul Rawlins

Ok, I know that we have all seen great intros but when you get down to it... Flash intros are dead. Unless you're using the intro as a presentation and/or you have mad design skills it's probably best to leave the Intro out.

Most readers are looking on the internet for a specific reason - to find information. If you're lucky enough to have viewers hit your site you don't want to run them off with an intro that repeats the same message that is on your index page, or an intro that is just plain boring. For this example I'm going to use a site and post from the WebProWorld Flash Forum.

Post subject: Need Help!

Hello, can anyone tell me if my site has too much flash. This is my first site, so if it needs more work please let me know. I am open to any suggestions. Thank You

If you take a look at the site you see that it starts with an intro. While the intro looks nice, it's making the readers wait to get to the beef of the site. Their main page tells the reader everything they need without wasting time in the intro. So, when you're building your next Flash design think before you intro.

What do you think?
